New Horizon Retreat Center Inc. (NHRCI) is a not-for-profit 501c3 organization founded by Deborah Latham following the efforts of Pamela Washington, who was dedicated to serving unsheltered individuals.

Our outreach began during the days of the COVID pandemic at 51st and Federal Street in Chicago. Feeling a strong urge to help, we gathered volunteers to prepare and deliver meals to those living in tents. We connected with street evangelists, shared testimonies, and sang songs of praise, turning strangers into friends.

With a desire to serve our friends more effectively, through prayer we received the vision of  New Horizon Retreat Center Inc. aka "The Bathhouse Project" focused on providing essential services such as daily baths, showers, hair care, laundry facilities, phone charging stations, meals, and storage areas. 

We believe by providing these essential needs we can help unsheltered individuals keep medical appointments, attend job interviews, maintain employment, and secure stable housing.

Additionally, we recognize the importance of a holistic approach. We are committed to collaborating with other organizations to offer mental and emotional support, biblical and spiritual guidance, medical attention, employment assistance, and temporary shelter.

With the support of generous donors, dedicated volunteers, and faith in God, we are confident that we can change lives for the better.  We invite you to join us in our mission—your services, in-kind donations, and financial support are vital to our success. While we aim to establish our own facility in the future, we are currently focused on serving the homeless community with our time and resources, embodying the principles of compassion and service. 

At New Horizon Retreat Center Inc., we are currently accepting financial donations and donations of essential supplies such as socks, toothbrushes, undergarments, and other materials.
